Okay here it goes...
Good morning Dr Boon as well as ladies and gentlemens.
I would like to address the issue of the school only emphasising on the academic development of the pupils here in Anglican High.
There are a few examples which I would point out as it clearly shows the lack of other activities for the pupil’s benefit other than academic wise. For your information, Anglican High is the Centre Of Excellent Sports but I feel that the school is not putting enough effort to live up to its reputation.
1. Sports Day is no longer held in the usual Bedok Stadium, instead, it was held in the school compound. Of course I would not be bothered if the school provided facilities like the Bedok Stadium. However, the school does not even have the basic requirement of a running track. I felt that the environment for the event was really important as, without a properly equiped one, it can lead to not hosting even the usual events like the track events. Futhermore, it shows the effort of the school putting in effort for Sports Day to only a very limited extent.
2. Secondly, the annual 2.4km cross-country run was scheduled on a non-school day. The reason being cirriculum time was precious and we should not use it for the 2.4 run. This clearly portrays the image of the school towards the use of its cirriculum time, ‘Only For Academics’. It was concrete proof that sports and other non-related studies activities are only second to academics.
My conclusion is that the school should aim to be more all-rounded and treat all aspects of the student's well-being more equally. This way the students can enjoy studying even more with the accompany of their non-academic activities in Anglican High. Thank-you.
